Our Government Buildings program is directed to support the state, regional and city initiatives we value as Oregonians. Currently we're in conversation with multiple government agencies who are interested in commercial scale systems for their power generation. This program fits well with some of the initiatives you may have heard about.
In the State of Oregon , Governor Ted Kulongoski´s Renewable Energy Action Plan includes provisions for a Renewable Energy Standard with these characteristics:
- 10% of Oregon's total load by 2015
- 25% of Oregon's total load by 2025
- 25% of state government facilities by 2010
- 100% of state government facilities by 2025
In addition, he would like to see 500 new solar electric systems producing over one megawatt of electricity.
The City of Portland has a goal to be powered by 100% renewable energy by 2010. With the potential purchase of renewable energy from wind farms in development, the city looks to be able to meet this goal by the end of 2008.
